Problem Solving

The hot weather doesn't help to make good workouts. In summer I always run with a friend (Sir Gianni) who spends his vacations in this city where he has a nice house; sometimes we run until the beach (11 km) and sometimes we follow a route around the city (10 -12 km). We start at 07.00 a.m. but already on that time there are not less than 30° C., for this reason it is impossible to plan a quality work. However I think that it is important to stay in shape waiting for the better season: mileage instead of speed. From left: the Black Knight, Sir Giorgio and Sir Gianni:
The injury heals but swimming is not yet allowed (free-style fault) and I can only run every other day. In early august I will begin a period of phisiotherapy and thermal baths for a complete recover.
The time has (almost) came: the Black Knight is ready for a war-trip on a "battle-ship" to conquer many mediterranean ports. Very soon he will reveal this terrible secret!
In the meantime: happy running. and if you are tri-addicted also happy swimming and happy biking ........

  1. Train and heal well. The heat can really be dangerous, but one must keep going.
Not sure what's happening with the Springbok rugby team. They went from very good to very bad in a short time! I saw some Springbok while running Sunday. At least I could enjoy watching them.

  2. The heat is tough. I think keeping the mileage without the speed is a good strategy. Thanks for your well-wishes for my dad!

As you said to me, make sure to not push it until the healing is complete!

  5. Hi Stefano,
I also love the picture...and the shirts:) You guys all look great!

Run smart when you are out in the heat! Stay hydrated and healthy:) My runs have also been more about the miles and not so much of the speed. Happy running Stefano!

  7. You're all in disguise :)

That's indeed already hot at 7 am. On hot days it's around 20C at 7 am here so that's manageable.

Hope your injury will heal soon and you can get back to swimming.

  16. I can't fight it like I use to. The heat and humidity is just too much for me these days.

Heal fast, we want the black Knight strong and healthy when the most pleasent times arrives.

  17. Hi Stefano
I love the photo - looks such fun! Send some of that heat our way. It's freezing here! Mind you, 30deg at 7am sounds just a little TOO hot for running. We are still in single digits at that time and often below zero. Roll on springtime and in your case autumn!

  19. In Siena we say that after the Palio of 16 August, the winter starts. Indeed, it is true, the weather starts cooling off quite quickly after that. So a few more hot weeks, then it will be winter!
Sounds as though the healing is going slowly - patience, it will all come together.
