Venice

Before the battle. This week I have only made 2 slow workouts - pace of 5'40"/km (9'07"/ml) 10.2 km long - to be ready tomorrow for the Roma-Ostia half marathon. During the first workout, in a dark, windy and cold evening, near the stormy sea, I met Sir Giorgio with his 2 squires; it was an epic meeting, worthy to be told to the posterity.

Rugby. Now I am leaving for Rome to watch with my son Paolo the rugby match Italy-Wales. I think we don't have any chance.

Venice. After the work meeting I had a whole morning for myself to walk around Venice. It was impossible for me to run because the narrow streets, with many bridges, were full of tourists. The city is amazing and all the people were looking for the celebrations of the picturesque and famous carnival. Below some pictures of Venice:

In your opinion which is the most beautiful city in the world?
Good week-end to everyone

  5. Beautiful pictures, as always! I have yet to make it to Italy, so perhaps I have yet to see the most beautiful city in the world? I do love Paris, however, and Sydney, Australia, for its waterside location isn't too shabby either!

  6. WOW. Venice looks so awesome. I want to visit Italy but can't get my wife to do it....and she's 100% italian too. She worries about the language barrier. I told her that most people speak english at least in the tourist areas we would visit. Am I right?

  8. You made me laugh (I was running with my two squires).

Paola's have just told me that her girlfriends will run the race tomorrow. If you met them there they will be obliged to help the Black Knight during the ordeal.

Good luck on the half marathon and enjoy it!

  9. Beautiful pictures! I think cities between the mountains are beautiful. Not sure it I have one favorite. If you look at my latest post you'll see a photo of me with my first rugby team in 1973. I'm watching Super 15 rugby right now. Go Lions! Wales is a strong team. Good luck with your race!

  13. Thanks so much for the pictures. Venice would have to rank highly as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I loved the picture of the shop window with all the masks - that seems to be what I think of when I think of Venice.

  14. I love your Venice pictures. Unfortunately, I don't have much travel experience - but Zihuatanejo, Mexico is one of my favorite places in the world.

  15. What beautiful pictures! My travel has been limited to the US and parts of Mexico, and it hasn't been the cities I've found beautiful so much as the outdoors. Venice looks amazing, though. Thank you for sharing a glimpse of it with us. :)

  16. I hope Paola's girlfriends didn't slow you down too much.

Canberra is the most beautiful city in the world (of course), closely followed by Sydney, Melbourne and Vancouver.

  17. Good luck well, for you, already today.

Most beautiful city? Rio de Janeiro, or San Francisco, or Venice, or Paris, or Rome, or Munich, or Kyoto, Barcelona, or ... I can't chose. :)

  18. Good luck today on your half, I'm sure you will do great!

Most beautiful city ... I think that would be Florence for me.

  20. My favorite is Barcelona. Florence,Italy and Vienna, Austria are cool too. Then there's the little village, town of Applecross in the highlands of Scotland where there are more sheep than people.

  21. I haven't really traveled much outside the US, unless you count Canada and Mexico - and I don't really - so can't really comment on the most beautiful city, but I have a feeling if I saw Rome or Venice, they'd rank way up at the top!

  23. You make me want to come and visit Italy every time I come to your blog to read about your battles!! I want to see Venice. I really think Old Quebec City is beautiful - not the part outside the gate (that is just a normal stinky city), but inside the gate is really beautiful.

  24. Beautiful pictures. Too bad you did not get to run in Venice, but it would be difficult with the bridges and all the people. I do not know what I city is the most beautiful in the world. The one that I think of is York, England right before Christmas. It was stunning all decorated for the holiday.
