The Tribute: Chicago & Elton John

The Tribute. As I wrote 2 posts ago, when the press announced that the Black Knight would have run the Florence Marathon, the Chicago, Elton John and Bryan Ferry decided to pay homage with a concert. Here are the pictures (sorry but I don't have a professional camera) of the Chicago (July 7th) and Elton John (July 13rd). A couple of unforgettable performances, more than 2 hours of music at the Rome Auditorium:

Running. It's hot and it is difficult to follow a specific program. I try not to lose speed making cross training (swimming and running) but it is an impossible mission. Summer is not the right season to push. However we don't surrender and the Black Knight Army is always on the battlefield: tomorrow we (the Black Knight, Sir Giorgio and his insolent squire Massimo) will enter the Santa Marinella 10 km.
Here is a pic of my last race in Orbetello: a shot in the dark. The Black Knight is the n° 16.
Question: Do you like to go to the concerts? What was the last one?

  1. I love concerts! The last one I saw was Blake Shelton. He was great and Miranda Lambert was with him so she joined in for a couple of songs.

I would love to see Elton John!

    Have a great race!

  2. The last concert I saw was LoneStar, bc it was free in St. Louis. A few years ago my husband and I went to see John Mayer. That was a great show.

Nice of Chicago and Elton to celebrate your race decision. :)

  4. I love to go to concerts. The last one I saw was Crosby and Nash. They are my absolute favorites and the ones (also with Stills and Young) I have seen the most.

  5. How fun to go to those concerts. I have not been to one since college. I would like to go to another, but they are just too expensive for me right now.

  7. Those concerts looked like so much fun! The last one I attended was Sarah McLachlan earlier this year. Her voice is so beautiful, and she is a very gifted musician.

  8. Good luck at your race tomorrow! You are busy having lots of fun. I'm taking my Beatles obsessed daughter to see 1964, the Beatles cover band, on Sunday. It's her birthday so it's a perfect fit. Glad you are having a good summer!

  9. Good luck in your race this weekend. I'm still not convinced that I'd enjoy a Summer race.

  11. I'm terrible at running in the heat so I can totally understand it's difficult for you now.

We love concerts but now we're getting older we don't like the "big" ones anymore, those which are held in stadions. We've seen a lot of artists but favorite is Bruce Springsteen which is also the last one we've seen and in your beautiful country in Turino.

Saw your comment on Amy's blog: we don't have a running date next week but we will be running a race together in October.

Good luck today with the 10K.

  12. Fran and I are going to meet for coffee!
I wish our weather was a little bit warmer here - nothing but wind and rain - bah.
I enjoy concerts too but don't see many of them. I think the last pop concert I saw was Aimee Mann...

  14. I bet you had a great time at the concert! I saw Elton John about a thousand years ago and it was incredible. I get teh most horrible headaches at concerts anymore so don't go often. Yeah, I'm pretty boring!

  16. Problema risolto! avevo lasciato la casella "resta connesso" attivata. Non so quale collegamento ci sia, ma sta di fatto che adesso, dopo aver disattivato l'opzione, riesco a lasciare i commenti.

Last concert - Aerosmith in Mass, and Simple Minds in Charleston SC.
Running in the heat - Tough. Forget about the speed and just endure.
