Swimming

Swimming again. After 8 days of total rest to heal the sciatic nerve pain, I am back to swim pain free (for now): 1800 meters (72 lengths) monday, 1900 meters (76 lengths) thursday and 2000 meters (80 lengths) today. Tomorrow I will try to run 30/40 minutes to test the health of my pyriform muscle. However I will have another week off because on tuesday I must remove 2 ugly moles: this is an important surgery for me because I am a cancer survivor.

Rugby. Yesterday, under a rainstorm, I went to see the rugby match Italy - Wales. The Dragons gave us another tough and important lesson: 6 - 23. Bad times for the Italrugby. This is a scrum in the first half of the game:

These are 2 photos of the B.K. before the match:

Question: which is your favorite sport (running apart)?

  1. My favourite team sport would have to be soccer/football. All three of my boys played it and we used to have up to six matches each weekend so it was lucky that I enjoyed it.

Good luck on your run. I hope your pyriformis behaves itself.

  2. Good luck with the mole removal. Be healthy. My favorite sport is biking for sure, definitely more than running! I also like swimming although I am not good at it. I grew up skiing but don't seem to do it any more although I am a decent skier.

  4. Good swims! Fingers crossed for a pain-free run, too.

My favorite sport to watch is baseball. But I'm terrible at playing all team sports (I did play soccer in high school--I only liked the running part of it ;^) ).

  8. I really hope you can get over all the injury problems soon. You deserve to be injury free now. Rugby in rain like that is something else. Running apart my favorite sports to watch is cricket and cycling. I also love athletics.

  9. Nice that you are back in the pool. I was worried when I saw that Rugby photo at first, thought I was going to read you were playing. I like tennis though don't have much time to play anymore. Perhaps one day will get back at it. Still love to watch though.

  10. Wow, you swimming statistics are incredible.

As for sport, as a rule, I dislike any game that involves a round ball but will watch Rugby or athletics.

  11. I like watching speed skating every now and then, actually most world championships where Dutch athletes participate in, the sport itself isn't really important then.

I never watch gymnastics for example but the gold medal of Epke Zonderland this year was fenomenal and even made me cry.
