Nicosia (Cyprus)

CYPRUS. This week I have spent 4 days in Nicosia (Cyprus) for an European Project meeting about the infomobilty. It was impossible to run because in the hotel there was not a gym and on the streets it was difficult: traffic, men at work and short sidewalks. However I had the time to visit both the parts of the city: the greek and the turkish one, moreover I had the possibility to taste good local food while listening popular music: very nice time! Here are some photos. On the first, one moment of relax after a whole day of meeting (the B.K. is the 4th from left):

RUNNING. On the running front the things go wrong for all the commitments. It is difficult to follow a scheduled plan or also a simple routine without specific goals. I hope to sign up for one race before the end of the year but I am afraid I have to go abroad again very soon (Brussels for sure). This morning I have run hilly 12.1 km (7.5 m) but after 15 minutes, because of a hidden root, I heavily felt on the ground. Luckily I was able to keep on running again and the "nice" memories are a bruise on the left hip and the right hand wounded.

HAVE A GOOD RUNNING BIKING SWIMMING RACING WEEK END

  1. Oh no! Darn the root! Glad you weren't hurt badly. Tomorrow I have a Santa race, not a fast one but a fun one.

  2. Sorry to hear that you tripped over a root. Ouch.

I'm running with a friend this morning. This may be my last week of running before getting injections for my knee again though.

  6. AJH: Good luck tomorrow. Cannot wait for reading the report.

LISA: I hope that the injections work and you get well soon.

MARTIN: The eyes are open but the roots and the stones are well hidden!

THEYOGI: C'è sempre qualcosa da scrivere o qualche foto da postare.....

  7. We could probably run the Christmas Liberty run on December 15th. As you know, my training is not adequate for that 10 km race ... but I don't mind. Let me know if it is possible!

    Interesting pictures of Cyprus.

  8. I have some "nice" scars on my knees from a few falls trail running this past summer....I just look at them as badges of honor (or a reminder how dumb I am :)). Glad you were okay.

The chocolates (?) look delicious, wow!! You get to travel to the coolest places!

  9. Those 'nice' memories aren't too bad. 12k is a good training distance! Hope you're able to sign up for a race - certainly does help with the motivation.

  12. GIORGIO: Ci sentiamo al telefono perché in quel periodo dovrei essere nuovamente all'estero.

JILL: Now I have too many badges of honor.....

EWEN: To race is always a good cure and gives motivation. You are right.

AMY: Indeed it was nice and I had the time to visit the city by a guided tour (our colleagues of the Cyprus University).

ROBIN: The problem is that I have to travel a lot for a couple of years again.

  13. Cyprus looks amazing! You're so blessed to be able to travel to so many wonderful places.

Sorry about the fall - glad there are no serious injuries!

  14. Your trip looks wonderful (even if it was for work), but that would be frustrating to not be able to run. I have a hard time staying consistent with training if I don't have a goal in front of me too. I'm lucky to have a couple friends who are always making plans and dragging me along.

I'm glad you weren't hurt in your fall. We were running down a rocky hill in an orienteering race yesterday, and I was really nervous about falling.

  18. KARIEN. To travel for work is nice but not so often.

KATE. The running friends are always a strong motivation.

CAROLINE. I seldom run where the roots are, but this time I did.....

NATALIA. Bentornata! Mi fa piacere vedere che hai ripreso a scrivere e correre.

JOHANN. Yes, they are Turkish Delight that I found in a market.

  19. My sister would be in heaven with all that turkish delight. I've never seen such a huge variety of different flavours.

  20. Every runner's worst nightmare: fall!
I wouldn't worry too much about a schedule, it's December which is usually a busy month for all of us. Do what you can and when you can and pick up a schedule in January, that would be my advice.

Cyprus looks pretty, never been there but it looks great.

  21. Cyprus would be a wonderful destination! It's a place I know very little about, but the climate and history would make it nice.
Sorry about your fall. You must be careful for the tree roots. Still, 12k is a good run! Hope you and your family are doing well, Stefano!
